Leicester snap up Tielemans

31st January 2019, 20:13 by James Mason

Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans has joined Leicester City on loan for the rest of the season.

Claude Puel was eager to bring in some reinforcements before Thursday's 11pm deadline and he has managed to acquire the services of Belgium international Tielemans for the remainder of the campaign.

The 21-year-old has been a regular first-team fixture for Monaco this season, having made 20 Ligue 1 appearances, but he will be plying his trade in the Premier League for the first time in his career at the King Power Stadium.

As part of the deal, Adrien Silva, who was officially registered as a Foxes' player in January 2018 after his move in the summer of 2017 was delayed due to international clearance, has moved in the opposite direction.

The Portuguese midfielder has played just twice in the league this term and he expressed his delight at making the temporary move to France.

He told Monaco's official website: "I am very happy to join AS Monaco. I look forward to meeting my team-mates and doing my best to help the club reverse the situation."
