Puel confirms Iborra could stay in Spain
Claude Puel has confirmed Villarreal target Vicente Iborra is in Spain and that "perhaps he will stay" there amid transfer rumours.
But the Leicester City manager remains coy on the reasons for allowing the 30-year-old midfielder to head home during the busiest time of the season, with matches coming thick and fast in the league and the FA Cup.
Iborra will miss Sunday's third-round tie against Newport County but Puel suggested it was for personal reasons rather than any impending transfer back to the Iberian peninsula.
"I can say he moved to Spain just for his family but we know of some interest for him and perhaps he will move in January," said Puel on Friday.
"We will see the situation in a few days. I give him four days because he needs to see his family and after we will see if he come back or if he stays, because perhaps he will stay.
"It’s a possibility (he will leave). Vicente didn’t play with all the game-time he wanted and we will see."
Villarreal are understood to have made a firm bid for the ex-Sevilla star although their offer is below the Foxes' valuation.
