Rodgers excited for pre-season action
Brendan Rodgers says he is excited for their pre-season test against Scunthorpe and will use the game for tactics as well as fitness.
The squad have just arrived back from Evian where they spent the first part of pre-season building up their fitness levels ahead of the first Premier League match at home to Wolves on August 11.
They travel to Glanford Park on Tuesday evening and Rodgers is set to play a different XI in each half as he continues to slowly build up the levels of the players.
And the Northern Irishman says the game will be as much about introducing them to tactical game situations as well as fitness.
"We're going to play two 45 minutes, so lots of players will get the opportunity to play and get their first taste of football this season and I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"This phase now is just about the preparation, so it's about building that football fitness. Like I said, they're not in the position where they can go for that 90 minutes yet.
"It's about taking those first steps into game situations and it's all about football fitness, but of course there's a tactical element to it.
"We're continuously working on tactical items over the course of pre-season and that will be the first chance we have to see it under a little bit of pressure."
