Defender boost on cards for Reds
Jurgen Klopp is set to hand Joe Gomez a welcome boost by recalling him to the Liverpool squad for Friday's clash at Southampton.
The England centre-back is expected to make his first appearance in the Reds' matchday squad of 2019.
The 21-year-old has been sidelined since the start of December when he fractured his lower left leg during the away win over Burnley.
Fabinho is set to be recalled to the Liverpool starting line-up for the match at St Mary's.
The Brazilian was a substitute for last Sunday's dramatic home win over Spurs as Jurgen Klopp preferred a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Klopp revealed Fabinho had barely trained before the game and suggested he would return for this week's clash on the south coast.
Since then Manchester City enjoyed a comfortable 2-0 win over Cardiff to regain top spot in the Premier League but Liverpool can go back to the summit should they win at Saints.
