Fekir agent on failed Liverpool bid
Nabil Fekir had passed a medical with Liverpool before the Reds pulled out at the last minute, the player's agent has revealed.
The Lyon playmaker looked certain to sign for Liverpool just before the World Cup last summer but the deal collapsed and he remained with the Ligue 1 club, much to the player's frustration.
At the time speculation was rife suggesting Liverpool pulled out over an injury issue, as Fekir had previous problems with his knee, but his agent believes there was more to it.
Fekir did go on to help France win the World Cup that summer and Liverpool could have missed the boat.
Arch rivals Manchester United are now said to be lining up a move, and it remains to be seen whether Reds boss Jurgen Klopp will go back in as well.
"It is not about staying here," Jean-Pierre Bernes told L'Equipe, when asked of Fekir's chances of remaining in Lyon.
"And we will know maybe the real circumstances that prevented Fekir's move to Liverpool. The knee was a part of it, but not only that.
"He had passed a medical, done photos with the Reds shirt."
