Reds sweating over Gomez news
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has indicated Joe Gomez picked up a bad injury in Wednesday's 3-1 win at Burnley.
England international Gomez went down heavily on his ankle in the first half after challenging for the ball with Ben Mee and the Reds defender had to be stretchered off.
The 21-year-old has been fantastic for Liverpool at the heart of defence next to Virgil van Dijk this season and the title challengers will be hoping the injury is not as bad as first feared.
Klopp was asked about Gomez's condition after the match and the German tactician believes the Englishman could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"Joe is injured and probably not only a little bit," he was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. "We have to see, we don't know in the moment. We sent him home.”
Liverpool managed to come from a goal down at Turf Moor to pick up the 3-1 win, with second-half strikes from James Milner, Roberto Firmino and Xherdan Shaqiri cutting the gap to leaders Manchester City to two points.
