Ings set for Saints switch

Liverpool forward Danny Ings looks set to be heading out on loan at Southampton following a difficult spell with the Reds.

A deal sheet was submitted by the Saints before Thursday's 5pm deadline and loan move is expected to be completed, with Ings swapping Merseyside for the south coast.

Ings has endured a torrid time with injuries since his switch to Anfield in 2015 and has been linked with a host of clubs in the Premier League and Championship in a bid to kick-start his career.

Southampton look to have won the race to sign the 26-year-old, who will be hoping to impress under manager Mark Hughes before potentially making a return to Anfield next summer.
