Klopp puts the brakes on Insigne rumours
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says the club "will not ever try" to sign Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne in the summer.
German tactician Klopp is expected to strengthen his squad this summer, regardless of whether they win a trophy or not, and reports on Wednesday suggested Insigne was a potential target.
The Italy international has scored nine goals from 25 Serie A appearances this term and is believed to have attracted interest from a number of Europe's best sides.
Liverpool were said to be one of the clubs monitoring the forward's situation, but Klopp insists the Reds will not be making a move for the 27-year-old in the upcoming transfer window.
"We will not sign Lorenzo Insigne," he said at a press conference. "He is a very good player but I guess he has a long-term contract at Napoli, and we will not even try it."
