Liverpool-linked defender plays in Bayern slaughter
Liverpool scouts saw reported target Matthias Ginter given the run-around by Champions League opponents Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Calciomercato claim the Anfield boss is lining up the German international, whom he previously signed for Borussia Dortmund, as a replacement for Joel Matip.
Ginter played under Klopp during his final season in charge at Signal Iduna Park after the Bundesliga club paid £8million to snap him up from Freiburg in 2014.
He moved to Monchengladbach for £15million in 2017 and has just over two years left on his current deal with Borussia holding the option to extend that by a further season.
Reds scouts will have seen the 25-year-old's latest display as BMG were hammered 5-1 by Liverpool's Champions League opponents Bayern Munich on Saturday.
Liverpool are on the lookout for defensive recruits despite holding the best defensive record in England, having conceded just 15 goals in 28 league matches.
But a new left-back is thought to be Klopp's priority as Alberto Moreno will be leaving when his contract expires in the summer.
