Lovren not part of Reds' Spain trip
Dejan Lovren has not travelled with the Liverpool squad for warm-weather training amid fears his return to action will be delayed.
Lovren has been out with a hamstring injury sustained in the FA Cup defeat at Wolves on January 7 and it was thought he had been making good progress in his recovery.
With the Reds not in action this weekend, boss Jurgen Klopp has taken his first-team squad to Marbella for some warm-weather training but Croatia international Lovren has not travelled with them, and his participation in next Tuesday's Champions League first-leg tie at home to Bayern Munich must now be in doubt, even if the German is not yet ruling him out.
Klopp told the Liverpool website: "Dejan is not here and Joe [Gomez] is not here.
"That’s never a good sign, I would say, but we will try everything to make Dejan available for Munich. It will be a tight race.
"For him, it makes sense in the moment to be in another place to do what he has to do. It wouldn’t have helped if he was here, so we will try everything - that’s clear."
Joel Matip has been used as Virgil van Dijk's partner at centre-back in recent weeks with both Lovren and Gomez absent, with the latter unlikely to be back in contention until mid-March at the earliest.
