Reds need six wins says star

2nd April 2019, 03:47 by Michael Holland

Liverpool need to win all six of their remaining games to have a chance of lifting the Premier League title, Sadio Mane believes.

Jurgen Klopp's men moved two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table after beating Tottenham 2-1 on Sunday, with Toby Alderweireld's last-gasp own goal deciding the clash at Anfield.

However, with City still having a game in hand, the destiny of the title remains in the hands of the reigning champions and Liverpool could yet fall agonisingly short in a remarkable season in which they have lost only once so far.

Mane admits there is no margin for error now and they have to win their last six games and hope that Pep Guardiola's men slip up somewhere along the way.

"To be honest I think we need to win all of the games, even if it will not be easy," he said. "But we still can win every game because we are a good team and we play very well."

Asked whether it felt like fate was playing a role in Liverpool's quest to win a first title since 1990, Mane added: "To be honest I don't know because we have a few more games to go. But it's a good sign.

"That's what makes you more motivated and makes everyone say 'Let's go, we can do it' so I think it's always important. This is a very good sign and I think everything is possible so let's do it and win it."
