Suarez tells Liverpool Gomez is 'real deal'
Liverpool are being tipped to make a £35m move for Celta Vigo star Maxi Gomez because of ex-Reds striker Luis Suarez.
West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have been linked to the 22-year-old Uruguayan in recent months but The Sun claim Liverpool are also in the race for his signature.
Suarez has told some of his former team-mates at Anfield that his international team-mate is the real deal after Gomez scored 17 goals in his rookie La Liga campaign last season.
And despite Celta Vigo's struggles this term, Gomez is again on course to hit double figures with nine goals and five assists in 23 appearances.
Gomez joined Celta from Defensor Sporting's youth team in 2017 and has registered 27 goals in 62 appearances for his Spanish club in all competitions.
West Ham were reportedly prepared to meet the South American's release clause of £43.3m in the January transfer window, but he stayed in Vigo.
