Terriers a test for Liverpool star Matip

25th April 2019, 08:25 by Gareth Freeman

Defender Joel Matip says Liverpool cannot afford to underestimate relegated Huddersfield on Friday night.

The Anfield outfit lost their place at the top of the Premier League on Wednesday as Manchester City claimed a 2-0 Manchester derby win at Old Trafford.

The Reds can put further pressure on their rivals and move back to the summit with a win on Friday as City play Burnley on Sunday.

Huddersfield's relegation has already been confirmed and they have picked up just 14 points in 35 games so far this season, but Matip is expecting the visitors to provide a stern test on Friday regardless.

"No game in the Premier League is easy, it doesn't matter who you play against," he told the club website.

"They will fight, they will try to earn their respect and they will not come here to give us some points. It will be a tough challenge."
