Villarreal set for Moreno deal
Liverpool’s departing defender Alberto Moreno is reportedly close to agreeing a switch to Villarreal.
The club announced he would be leaving on a free transfer at the end of last season following five mixed years at Anfield.
Signed by Brendan Rodgers from Sevilla for around £12million, he started his career fairly brightly but was then dropped from the team due to criticism over his defensive ability.
He first lost out to James Milner in that position before Andy Robertson was signed and he spent much of last season outside the squad completely, making just five appearances in all competitions.
He now looks set to head back to his homeland where Villarreal look to be interested in signing the 26-year-old.
He was linked with a return to his old club Sevilla but new manager Julen Lopetegui is understood to want to raid his old club Real Madrid to sign Sergio Reguilon, rather than swoop for Moreno.
