Bravo recovery in final stages

12th February 2019, 10:42 by Neil Foster

Claudio Bravo is in the final stages of his recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon after returning to Manchester.

The Manchester City number two goalkeeper suffered the injury last summer and has been spending much of his time back in Barcelona, where he still has a home.

Bravo dropped in on his City team-mates last month and spoke with boss Pep Guardiola, who subsequently included the Chile international in his revised Champions League squad recently submitted to UEFA.

City insiders have now confirmed the 35-year-old is back working at the Etihad training campus and doing well, although the club's medical staff are refusing to set a firm comeback date.

Bravo lost his starting place last season after Ederson was signed from Benfica, but the former Nou Camp keeper is still seen as an able back-up due to his vast experience.

The South American also has his admirers in Spain but, with 16 months left on his City deal, he remains solely focused on returning to full fitness and playing again before the end the season.
