City closing in on Rodri deal
Atletico Madrid midfielder Rodri looks on course to join Manchester City who are set to trigger his £62.5million release clause.
It was reported earlier on Tuesday that the 22-year-old informed Atletico's CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marin that he would like to talk to other clubs, having been given a fortnight to make a decision over his future at the Wanda Metropolitano.
And Rodri, who scored three goals in 47 appearances for Atleti after joining in a £22million deal from La Liga rivals Villarreal 12 months ago, has been linked with both City and German champions Bayern Munich.
But with City officials moving quickly to trigger Rodri's release clause, it now looks like he will be plying his trade with the Premier League champions next season.
The news will be a boost to Citizens boss Pep Guardiola as he has been keen to find a long-term replacement for 34-year-old veteran Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho.
