Defender linked to City
Despite the £50m price tag placed on him by Leicester City, Manchester City continue to make checks on left-back Ben Chilwell.
Pep Guardiola was initially linked to the England international last November, as the Citizens seek to recruit a top quality back-up and put more pressure on first-choice defender Benjamin Mendy.
However, it is understood the Citizens have stepped up their scouting in recent weeks on the 22-year-old and the reports coming back are that the Foxes player ticks a number of boxes for Guardiola.
City's director of football Txiki Begiristain has previous good relations with the powerbrokers at the King Power stadium after selling them Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho, also laying out a club record £60m fee last summer for winger Riyad Mahrez.
City insiders have stated Chilwell is now ahead of Real Betis left-back Junior Firpo, who has also caught the eye of club scouts this season and is wanted at Real Madrid.
The Manchester giants paid £52m when they signed Mendy from Monaco in 2017 and believe Chilwell could represent good value for money in today's market.
Fabian Delph may yet decide to leave the Etihad this summer, with 12 months left on his deal, so signing Chilwell would negate losing a homegrown player from their existing quota.
