Defender on verge on joining Flamengo

Flamengo are reportedly on the verge of completing a deal with Manchester City for defender Pablo Mari.

The 25-year-old has never featured for City since signing from Spanish outfit Gimnastic in August 2016 and it looks like his time at the Etihad is running out.

Mari was loaned to Girona just a day after penning a deal with the Premier League club and he spent last season on loan with NAC Breda.

Pep Guardiola hasn't seen enough development from the defender over the past few years and reports claim he is happy to move his countryman on.

Former Sporting Lisbon and Benfica boss Jorge Jesus is currently in charge at Flamengo and is understood to be the driving force behind the deal.

The report from Brazil claims the two clubs have already agreed on the terms and it's just a case of sorting the final details.
