Guardiola aims dig at former club

20th July 2019, 13:27 by Bobbie Jackson

Pep Guardiola has refused to comment on Manchester City’s interest in Harry Maguire while aiming a dig at Bayern Munich.

City have been linked with Leicester defender Maguire all summer and are understood to be battling it out with Manchester United for his signature.

Vincent Kompany's departure at the end of last season has left them short at the back, although Guardiola has admitted he could call on some of the younger members of his squad.

Guardiola, who was speaking during City's pre-season trip to China, refused to speak about Maguire on Friday and aimed a sly dig at Bayern in the process.

Bayern are big admirers of Leroy Sane and have often spoken about the player in an attempt to unsettle him, something Guardiola doesn't agree with.

Guardiola said: "He is a Leicester player. I know some people like Bayern Munich like to talk a lot about Leroy (Sane), but usually I never speak about players at other clubs. What is going to happen, is going to happen."
