Major blow for Sanchez's Reds career
Alexis Sanchez looks set to be ruled out for between six to eight weeks with the knee ligament injury sustained on Saturday.
According to reports in Chile, the former Arsenal star will miss up to two months of action because of the injury he picked up against Southampton.
Sanchez limped off after a block tackle from Saints defender Jan Bednarek and the initial scans suggest he might not be involved much before May.
El Mercurio spoke to Chilean doctor Pedro Onate, who claimed that the star has suffered a medial ligament injury in his right knee but should be fit in time for Chile's attempt to win the Copa America in Brazil this summer.
The report said: "There's no problem for Alexis playing in the Copa America because he'll be out for between six and eight weeks."
