Red Devils step up interest in Milenkovic
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will scout Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic during Serbia's clash against Montenegro.
The under-pressure Manchester United chief has heard good things about the talented 20-year-old, who is expected to start the UEFA Nations League clash at the Podgorica City stadium in the Montenegrin capital.
United sources have confirmed their scouts have already watched Milenkovic on a few occasions and Mourinho wants to see what the hype is about for himself.
Despite the ongoing speculation he could be shown the Old Trafford exit in the next few weeks, Mourinho is still making plans to bolster the Red Devils' squad in January.
He was not happy after United failed to recruit any of his desired central defensive targets back in the summer, ratcheting up his belief he is not being properly backed in the transfer market.
It's believed Milenkovic is under consideration because he is also comfortable playing at right-back and Fiorentina may be willing sellers, with a fee of around £35m being touted.
Another player on show for Serbia is likely to be Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who the Manchester giants reportedly had a £90m bid turned down for last year although insiders indicate it is Milenkovic who is under the United spotlight.
