United boss calls for transfer backing

11th October 2018, 13:20 by Gareth Freeman

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has urged the club to fund a move for a centre-half in the winter transfer window.

Mourinho has seen his position as boss scrutinised in recent weeks after a poor start to the Premier League campaign but it is understood he retains the support of the board as things stand.

The United chief reportedly wants the club to signal their backing of him by funding a move for a defender in the January window.

The Red Devils are thought to have identified a number of targets from Serie A with AC Milan's Alessio Romagnoli, Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan and Fiorentina's Nikola Milenkovic all mooted as possible targets.

United travel to Mourinho's former club Chelsea in their next fixture after the international break and punters may wish to use their free bet to back Alexis Sanchez to grab a goal after his late winner against Newcastle last time out.
