United extension on the cards for Mata
Reports claim midfielder Juan Mata is set to be handed a one-year contract extension by Manchester United.
The 31-year-old's deal expires at the end of June and he was widely tipped to move on. However, it appears his spell at Old Trafford may be set to continue.
Mata is understood to have held positive talks with the club over the past few days and the two parties are nearing an agreement.
He has featured 218 times for United since joining from Chelsea in 2014, netting 45 times, and is one of the most experienced heads in the dressing room.
It was previously reported that the Red Devils were lining up Mata for an ambassadorial role although it appears he will continue his playing career in the meantime.
