United striker wants future talks

1st March 2019, 09:52 by Nick Harris

Romelu Lukaku wants to discuss his long-term Old Trafford future with bosses at Manchester United.

Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan are both believed to be at the front of the queue for the Red Devils' striker, who bagged a brace in patched-up United's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.

There are even suggestions behind the scenes the Manchester giants would be open to a sale this summer should a suitor hand them a premium on the £75m they paid to sign him from Everton in 2017.

Lukaku's influential agent, Mino Raiola, is keeping tight-lipped but he has form for moving on any of his clients who aren't getting the desired levels of commitment or starting opportunities.

Caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the Belgium international for his performance against the Eagles but has also stated the 25-year-old has put on too much muscle since last summer's World Cup, which has supposedly impacted his game.

Lukaku has still managed 11 goals this term but is no longer a guaranteed starter for Solskjaer, prompting the player to now find out where he stands with the Norwegian and his employers.
