Albion unable to secure Hayden deal
Newcastle have rejected an initial approach from West Brom for Isaac Hayden but the midfielder may still depart in January.
Hayden has informed the Magpies he wants to move on this month as he wants to be closer to his family in south Wales, with the club believed to be willing to offers for him - but only when they have signed a replacement.
The Baggies had hoped to exploit the situation by offering him the chance to move to the Hawthorns, but their first approach has been turned down as boss Rafa Benitez does not want to lose the England Under-21 international without someone coming into his squad in his place.
Hayden has recently returned to the Newcastle line-up - he has made nine first-team appearances in total this season - but remains unsettled off the pitch and will hope to secure a switch away in the transfer window.
It is thought other Premier League and Championship clubs are watching the situation closely and could yet make offers for the former Arsenal youngster.
