Benitez expecting more from Murphy
Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez says Jacob Murphy is still getting to grips with the Premier League and expects him to keep improving.
The 22-year-old joined the Magpies from Norwich over the summer in a £12million deal and he has made 16 Premier League appearances, having started on nine occasions.
Murphy’s latest starting role was in Monday’s victory over Stoke and he laid on the assist for Ayoze Perez to net the only goal of the afternoon at the bet365 Stadium.
The England under-21 international’s performances have been improving every week and Benitez believes there is still a lot more to come over the course of the season.
Benitez said: “He’s a young player who’s learning how to understand the game, and also learning about the pace of the Premier League.
“He’s doing some good things, but he still has plenty of room for improvement.”
