Benitez to join Juve stopper Rogerio race

9th January 2019, 14:05 by Craig Smithson

Juventus' Brazilian full-back Rogerio is now being linked with a January transfer window switch to Newcastle.

Rogerio is currently in the middle of the second season of a two-year loan deal with Sassuolo but reports claim the Serie A side are not happy with his standard of performance.

It is understood he could be sent back to Juve and several Premier League clubs have been keeping close tabs on the developing situation.

Wolves and Chelsea have been scouting the 20-year-old since the summer so could also enter the race should he become available.

But Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is believed to be looking to conclude a loan deal with a view to a permanent contract next summer.
