Brazilian winger shines in front of Magpies scout

6th March 2019, 13:36 by Simon Barlow

Newcastle sent a scout to Greece last weekend and could be on the trail of PAOK's Brazilian winger Leo Jaba.

The Magpies have been reportedly watching players from the Greek league this season and were linked to Olympiakos midfielder Mady Camara back in September.

Newcastle, alongside scouts from Atalanta, Genoa, Rennes, Strasbourg, Club Brugge, Gent, Vfb Stuttgart, Utrecht and Basel, were present for the clash between table-toppers PAOK and Panathinaikos last weekend.

Sportime.gr state Panathinaikos midfielders Anastasios Chatzigiovannis and Giannis Bouzoukis were being watched by some of those clubs - as was PAOK winger Leo Jaba, who scored and was sent off.

The midfield duo have been responsible for 17 of Panathinaikos' 28 league goals this season and both have contracts that run for just over 18 months.

Leo Jaba, has scored six and assisted nine goals in 30 games for PAOK, who lead the league, and the 20-year-old's exciting wing-play seems destined to grace a bigger stage soon.

The Brazilian, who was signed from Akhmat Grozny last summer, impressed against Chelsea in the Europa League earlier this season.
