Dubravka calls for final push

25th April 2019, 10:34 by Bobbie Jackson

Martin Dubravka is refusing to give up on claiming a top-10 finish with Newcastle this season, although he admits it will be "hard".

The Magpies secured their Premier League status by beating Southampton last weekend and they could be excused for winding down in the final three games.

They currently sit 12th, seven points shy of Leicester in 10th, and have Brighton, Liverpool and Fulham left to play.

It looks extremely unlikely that they will go on to match last season's 10th-place finish but Dubravka wants the squad to continue fighting.

Dubravka said: "It is going to be hard. But you have to remember we had so many tough fixtures where we lost so many points.

"After that we have picked up a lot of points away from home.

"But who knows? Why not try to go higher. We should go for it."
