Dutch full-back on Toon's radar
Newcastle United have reportedly made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt to try and sign left-back Jetro Willems.
The Dutchman, who has 22 caps for his country after making his debut in 2012 as a teenager, has impressed with his performances in his 18 months at the club.
Rafa Benitez is keen to strengthen his side in a number of areas, including left-back where Paul Dummett is the only recognised senior left-back in the first-team squad, with Javi Manquillo and Ciaran Clark filling in at times.
Willems played a big role in helping Frankfurt qualify for the Europa League last season after joining from PSV for a fee believed to be around five million euros.
Frankfurt are reluctant to sell Willems after they qualified from the Europa League group stages and are scheduled to face Shakhtar Donetsk in February.
There are also reservations over whether or not owner Mike Ashley will release funds to Benitez, with the former Liverpool boss having shown frustration over transfers in the past.
