January exit still wanted - Hayden
Rafael Benitez's transfer plans have been dented after Isaac Hayden revealed he still wants to leave Newcastle United this month.
The 23-year-old former Arsenal midfielder handed in a transfer request in the summer due to personal reasons but he failed to secure a move away from St James' Park despite reported interest from a number of teams.
Hayden has played in the Magpies' last three Premier League games and it was claimed his recent return to the starting line-up could persuade the Chelmsford-born star to stay in the north-east.
But, the Englishman says nothing has changed and he is still hoping for a move before the end of the January transfer window.
Hayden said: "It's unchanged and the club have known that from day one. It wasn't going to change. My family, my partner and daughter will always come first. Football is football, but family is more important.
"The club have had conversations already. Hopefully, a solution can be found. It wasn't in the summer, but I was professional and got on with the job I have to do."
Hayden's daughter lives in Wales with her mother and the midfielder is eager to move closer to his family, leading to suggestions both Swansea City and Cardiff City are eyeing up a move.
