Magpies set for Diame return lift
Newcastle should have Mo Diame back from a muscle strain in time to feature in Friday's Premier League clash at Leicester City.
The 31-year-old missed last weekend's 1-0 defeat against Crystal Palace because of the problem, but he is in line to be back in contention to face the Foxes.
Defender Florian Lejeune will miss the remainder of the season after he ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against Palace and has flown to Italy for surgery with Professor Pier Paolo Mariani in Rome.
Sean Longstaff is the only other absentee for Newcastle going to the King Power Stadium as Benitez remains convinced his side can finish the season with something to spare, and bring an end to his opponents' excellent run of four successive wins under Brendan Rodgers.
"I think they (Leicester) are a very good team - they have won some games in a row and they have some more confidence," he added.
"(But) we just have to approach every game with confidence and calm and we just have to believe.
"We are doing well, we are quite solid but we are just missing that final pass which is costing us three points."
