Magpies to lose Longstaff
Sean Longstaff could be KO'd for the season after Newcastle have decided to send him to a specialist amid fears of ligament damage.
Longstaff was forced off at half-time in the 2-0 Premier League defeat against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday evening after complaining of discomfort in his knee.
Rafael Benitez, whose contract runs out in the summer, was initially optimistic about the midfielder's injury and was hopeful the 21-year-old would not be on the sidelines for too long.
However, after undergoing scans, the Magpies have now decided to send the local star to a specialist amid fears he could have sustained ligament damage in his knee.
If the injury is deemed to be serious, it is likely to rule Longstaff out for the rest of the season and that would be a huge blow with the midfielder enjoying a successful run in the first team over the past couple of months.
