Newcastle win race for MLS playmaker

6th December 2018, 13:13 by Bobbie Jackson

Atlanta United playmaker Miguel Almiron has reportedly agreed to join Newcastle when the winter window opens.

The Paraguay international has been linked with a number of clubs across the world of football after impressing in the MLS.

It’s understood that Newcastle have beaten off plenty of competition to agree a deal ahead of the January transfer window.

Almiron netted 13 goals and laid on 11 assists for the American outfit last term and he finished runner-up in the race for the MVP award.

The report states that Newcastle will likely take Almiron on-loan until the end of the Premier League campaign, before parting with £15million to sign him on a permanent basis.
