Plans in place for next season - Benitez
Newcastle manager Rafael Benitez says he is still planning as usual for next season despite not yet signing a new contract.
Benitez's current deal at St James' Park expires in the summer and he has been reluctant to open negotiations over an extension due to the strained relationship with owner Mike Ashley.
A lack of investment has been the main worry for the Spanish tactician although the Magpies did break their transfer record on January's deadline-day with the £20million signing of Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United.
Despite there being no news on a Benitez contract, the former Liverpool boss, who has been linked with the vacant Leicester job, has revealed he is carrying on with his plans for the 2019/20 campaign.
"Yeah, the scouting department are still working and the Academy as well," he was quoted as saying by the Chronicle. "Everybody is thinking about the future. The priority for now for us is to stay up and concentrate on our games.
"Everybody is also preparing things for the future for sure."
