Rafa ready for Bournemouth

8th November 2018, 15:48 by Jack Ogalbe

Rafael Benitez is urging his Newcastle players not to take Bournemouth lightly when the pair meet on Saturday.

Ayoze Perez scored the only goal as the Magpies secured a 1-0 triumph over Watford last Saturday and they are currently preparing to host one of the Premier League's other form sides in the shape of the Cherries this weekend.

Although they lost to Manchester United last time out, Bournemouth sit sixth in the table and their performances were further recognised on Thursday with striker Callum Wilson's call-up to the England squad.

A tough run of fixtures at the start of the season means Newcastle have a more favourable set of games to look forward to in the coming weeks and this could prove a crucial period in their battle against the drop.

Having broken their duck last time out, Benitez says his players cannot take anything for granted in what he expects will be another stern examination of his side.

Benitez said: "It wasn't a good time to play Watford. They had picked up their form and Bournemouth are also doing well.

"But we have had five top sides already and in this case they are doing really well and they have confidence."
