Rafa to keep faith with midfield duo

1st March 2019, 16:54 by Simon Barlow

Rafa Benitez looks set to keep faith with Sean Longstaff and Isaac Hayden in his Newcastle's midfield at West Ham on Saturday.

The Magpies boss could recall Mo Diame or Ki Sung-Yeung, who are also available for selection but Jonjo Shelvey looks set to miss out once more.

The Newcastle United midfielder has requested to play for the reserve team in his bid to get vital match fitness under his belt.

Shelvey, who is fully fit after a thigh injury, will line up for the under-23 side against Fulham on Friday evening at Motspur Park.

"Jonjo will play for the U23s today," said Benitez at his Friday press conference. "He asked to play."

The Magpies boss will keep changes to a minimum for the trip to London Stadium after seeing his side go unbeaten in three Premier League matches, including back-to-back home wins over Huddersfield and Burnley.
