Rivals say Toon target not for sale

11th April 2019, 06:53 by Michael Holland

Newcastle have been told to forget about making a move for Ryan Fraser after Bournemouth insisted he is not for sale.

Reports had suggested that Newcastle could be willing to offer Toon star Matt Ritchie, plus cash, for the Scotland international but the Cherries say he is not for sale.

Arsenal have also been heavily linked with Arsenal but Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn says none of their star players, including Fraser, are leaving.

Mostyn told Sky Sports News: "Ryan Fraser is a Bournemouth player. Callum Wilson is a Bournemouth player.

"We just don't want anybody to leave the football club. Your prized assets are prized assets for a reason and we want to continue the momentum that we have achieved.

"Four consecutive seasons in the Premier League. We are going to start our next season, which will be our fifth year [and] we want our very best players to be playing for our football club."

Fraser is under contract until 2020, but Mostyn has revealed talks will soon begin over a new improved one.

"We will talk to Ryan," he added. "It is very early days yet and we will do the best for Ryan as we always have for all of our players."
