Toon look to Sabaly

6th August 2019, 13:43 by Jack Ogalbe

Newcastle are being linked with a late move for Bordeaux defender Youssouf Sabaly.

The Senegal international has been linked with a departure from the Matmut Atlantique in each of the last two transfer windows, with Napoli believed to have been close to his signature in January.

No deal materialised but interest has remained high in the 26-year-old, who recently helped Les Lions de la Teranga finish runners-up at the Africa Cup of Nations.

With just two days to go until the transfer window slams shut, Steve Bruce is keen to add to his ranks and the Magpies are believed to have seen a bid accepted for Sabaly.

The former Paris Saint-Germain defender, who can feature at both right-back and left-back, is also thought to be attracting admiring glances from Watford.

It means Bruce may need to act quickly to both outmanoeuvre the Hornets and also beat the deadline as he looks to boost his options.
