AZ find bargain after Saints terminate deal
Southampton have reportedly ripped up Jordy Clasie's contract and he looks set to sign for Dutch club AZ Alkmaar.
According to a report in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Clasie will put pen to paper on a four-year deal with AZ in the next few days
Clasie initially joined Saints from Feyenoord back in 2015 on a five-year contract when former manager Ronald Koeman splashed out £8m on him.
The diminutive Dutchman went on to make a total of 25 appearances during his first season with the club but struggled to make an impact after Koeman's shock departure for Everton.
AZ director of football Max Huiberts hopes to conclude the signing of Clasie quickly, possibly on Monday, although he will not be instantly ready to make his debut.
"Jordy has trained with a small group apart from the Southampton first-team squad in recent weeks," he told Voetbal International. "So far he has not done a full pre-season."
He made 33 Eredivisie appearances on loan at Feyenoord last season.
