Camp Nou raid unlikely for Saints

13th June 2018, 16:49 by Gareth Freeman

Southampton are keen on forward Paco Alcacer but seem set to miss out on a deal for the Barcelona misfit.

Alcacer is expected to exit Camp Nou this summer after a frustrating spell with the Catalan giants.

The 24-year-old joined the club from Valencia in the summer of 2016 but has been unable to secure regular football and Barca are willing to sell.

Southampton are believed to be interested in the striker, who has been capped 13 times by Spain but is not in their World Cup squad, but Turkish reports claim Fenerbahce are leading the race for his signature.

Saints boss Mark Hughes will now have to look elsewhere in his bid to strengthen his attacking options during the current transfer window as Alcacer seems set to head to Istanbul.
