Firbacher in Saints switch link

11th October 2018, 11:21 by Craig Smithson

Southampton are set to swoop for highly-rated 16-year-old Czech Republic starlet Filip Firbacher, according to reports.

The young striker has already spent time on trial with the Saints and the club have been keen to keep tabs on him as he plies his trade with Czech second division outfit Hradec Kralove.

Scouts have been on regular trips to watch Firbacher in action and with other clubs starting to recognise his undoubted quality, the Saints are reportedly poised to make an offer to take him to St Mary's on a permanent basis.

The club are renowned for bringing through quality players via their academy and Firbacher could be the latest if he does make the move to the south coast.
