Hasenhuttl reveals defensive plans

11th February 2019, 18:31 by James Mason

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has confirmed he will be changing his defence around for the next game.

The Saints suffered a damaging 2-1 home defeat against Cardiff City on Saturday, with the south-coast outfit slipping into the relegation zone with just 12 games of the season remaining.

Since being handed the reins at St Mary's, Hasenhuttl has only managed to keep one clean sheet from 13 matches in all competitions and the defensive issues are becoming a real worry.

Next up for Southampton is a trip to the Emirates to take on Arsenal on February 24, and the Austrian manager has revealed he will be shaking things up at the back.

"We must do everything to have clean sheets," he said. "I tell them every week, because we can score and always have chances. That's the focus on next week, I can guarantee you. I will also make a few changes to the defence, that’s for sure."
