Saints striker tipped to stay

31st January 2019, 02:46 by Michael Holland

Ralph Hasenhuttl is happy to go with what he has got until the summer transfer window, and expects Charlie Austin to stay.

Saints, like the rest of their Premier League rivals, have until close of business today to strengthen their ranks for the remainder of the current season.

Players have been heavily linked, including Birmingham striker Che Adams, while members of the current squad have been tipped to move out of St Mary's

The Austrian tactician insists he remains unsure over whether Austin will remain at the club beyond the deadline, and remains content with his squad regardless.

"I don't want to take a transfer that doesn't fit 100 per cent to us," he said after last night's 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace. "Maybe in the summer but with this squad to go until May is not a problem.

"I expect nothing (with Austin)."
