Butland eyes Stoke exit

13th February 2018, 14:00 by James Mason

Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland is reportedly looking to force through an exit from the club in the summer.

Butland is arguably one of the best keepers in the Premier League and many believe he should be handed England's number one jersey for the 2018 World Cup ahead of Joe Hart, Tom Heaton and Jordan Pickford.

The 24-year-old is said to be attracting interest from a number of teams, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, and Stoke have slapped a £40million price-tag on the shot-stopper in an attempt to fend off potential suitors.

Paul Lambert's men are currently battling against relegation as last Saturday's 1-1 draw at home against Brighton left the Potters 19th in the table, two points from safety with 11 matches to go.

Dropping down to the Championship would make it extremely difficult to keep hold of Butland but, even if the club survives this term, it is claimed the keeper will look for a move away from the bet365 Stadium.

The Bristol-born star has reportedly told Stoke's hierarchy he wants to leave this summer but it is unclear if the request has been accepted.
