Coates calls for Stoke unity

13th February 2018, 15:21 by Alex Jack

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates claims everyone at the club must pull together if they are to avoid relegation this season.

The Potters find themselves down in 19th place in the Premier League table following a 1-1 stalemate with Brighton at the weekend.

With just 11 games of the season remaining, the pressure is piling up on manager Paul Lambert and his players to pick up points.

Coates has been proud of his team's achievements in the top flight over the past decade and knows that everyone will have to pull in the same direction if the Potters are to retain their Premier League status.

He was quoted by the Sentinel, saying: “We’ve had 10 years in the Premier League and we want that to go on.

“I think everybody realises that is a pretty significant achievement, but we are not about to throw the towel in on that now.

“It’s going to be tough, I wouldn’t pretend otherwise, and everybody is going to have to hold their nerve, be it supporters, players, management.

“We are one club, all in this together, all wanting the same thing.

“Every game now is critical and our support is critical. Our supporters have been tremendous and I have always appreciated that.

“But now we need them more than ever.”
