Jese ready to fight for Stoke

13th March 2018, 16:31 by Craig Smithson

Stoke have been boosted by Jese Rodriguez's vow to rediscover his best form to help them survive after his first start since October.

The 25-year-old Spanish forward was brought into the bet365 Stadium by then boss Mark Hughes on a season-long loan from big-spending Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

However, Jese's season has been blighted by his regular trips to Spain to help care for his youngest son, Nyan, who is still hospitalised as he recovers from complications brought on by his premature birth last summer.

But with his son's situation now improving, the former Real Madrid man can devote more time to Stoke and he made his eighth start for the side in Monday's 2-0 home defeat against runaway Premier League leaders Manchester City.

Afterwards, he said: "I'm certain people will return to see the best Jese."

The defeat for Stoke leaves them in 19th place, two places and one point adrift of Southampton in the final position of safety, with eight matches remaining.

And Jese added: "It was always going to be very difficult against Manchester City because they are just too good and play with a lot of intensity.

"But on Saturday we have a final against Everton, a game that we have to win at all costs. We are playing at home and we must make the most of it."
