Dembele injury blow rocks Spurs

8th November 2018, 14:08 by Nick Harris

Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele is set be out until after Christmas after it emerged he's suffered ligament damage.

Dembele clashed with Wolves star Helder Costa last weekend and had to leave the pitch after seven minutes with boss Mauricio Pochettinho initially saying he was unsure of how long he would be out for.

Now the Tottenham chief has confirmed he's sustained ligament damage and will be out until January, meaning he will miss a host of vital Premier League games for Spurs, including clashes with Chelsea and Arsenal, over the busy festive period.

He will also miss the final two group games in the Champions League against Barcelona and Inter Milan as Mauricio Pochettino's side aim to qualify for the next stage despite losing their first two games.

Pochettino said: "It is always about the patience, how he is going to react to the injury, but we hope he is going to be ready by early January."
