Lamela expects Spurs to enjoy successful season
Erik Lamela believes Tottenham can enjoy another successful season both domestically and on the continent.
Spurs secured a top-four finish in the Premier League for the fourth successive season last term, while they also reached a first-ever Champions League final, although that ultimately ended in disappointment as they were beaten 2-0 by Liverpool.
Mauricio Pochettino has been able to dust his players down quickly from that disappointment, however, as Spurs have enjoyed a successful pre-season that culminated in them winning the Audi Cup thanks to victories over both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
Argentina international Lamela has been an impressive performer for Spurs throughout the summer and he is confident the north London club can enjoy another successful season, although he feels a fast start will be key to their chances of challenging for major honours.
"We know what to do. I think the team is ready and the players are motivated for the start of the season. I believe we can have a very good season," Lamela told the club website.
"It's important to start well and the players are motivated to start well. We're ready."
Spurs will kick-off the new season with a home clash against newly-promoted Aston Villa and Lamela is anticipating a tough encounter with last season's Championship playoff winners.
He added: "[Aston] Villa will be a difficult game. They will try to do well. We will try to get the three points and we now work hard to prepare for the game."
