Lloris - Spurs must improve for Dortmund clash
Hugo Lloris knows Tottenham will have to up their game to overcome Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Spurs will head into the first leg of their last-16 tie at Wembley having won four Premier League matches in a row, although they needed late goals to see off Fulham, Watford and Newcastle, while they were fortunate to beat Leicester 3-1 last time out.
Goalkeeper Lloris was perhaps one of the main reasons Spurs were able to overcome the Foxes, making a number of important saves, most notably denying Jamie Vardy from the penalty spot during the second half.
The France international has acknowledged the north Londoners will now have to improve on that performance if they are to have any chance of gaining a positive result against Dortmund.
"I think we need to improve the team performance," Lloris said. "We won but against a bigger side we couldn't have won that type of game. It's up to us."
Spurs beat Dortmund home and away in last season's Champions League group stage, but the German side have improved greatly since then and currently sit five points clear at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
Lloris has certainly been impressed by what he has seen from BVB this season and knows Spurs will need their home support during Wednesday’s contest.
"They play fantastic football," the 32-year-old added. "They have so many fantastic players and I'm not surprised they're top of the league in Germany.
"The manager is very good with a great idea of football. It's going to be very, very difficult. We need to obviously improve the team performance, compared to Sunday, and we need the stadium to push, to help us."
